4. Device data, repairs, trade-ins, and shop visits
This section covers the parts specific to buying and servicing electronics.
4.1 Walk-in and in-store customers
If you visit our shop, we may also collect:
- Repair or warranty intake details: your name, phone number, the device handed in, its serial number or IMEI, the reported fault, and the device passcode if you choose to provide one. This is recorded on a service job sheet.
- CCTV footage inside the shop and at the entrance, for security and loss prevention. Signage is displayed at the premises.
- Guest WiFi data, if you connect to our network: device MAC address, connection times, and data used.
- Loyalty or membership data, if you enrol: purchase history and points balance linked to your phone number.
- In-store card and wallet payments are handled through the bank or provider terminal. We keep only the last four digits, the card or wallet type, and the approval reference on our copy of the receipt.
You do not need to give an email address or ID document for an ordinary cash purchase. Where we do ask for ID, for example for an instalment plan or a formal tax invoice, we record only what the financing partner or tax rules require.
4.2 Repairs, warranty service, and trade-ins
- Serial numbers and IMEI are recorded against your purchase so we can confirm warranty eligibility and register the product with the manufacturer where required.
- Devices left for service: please back up your data and remove personal files before handing over any device. Where a fault cannot be diagnosed otherwise, our technicians may need to switch the device on and access it. We do not copy, keep, or share the contents of your device beyond what the repair requires, and we may ask you to sign a service authorisation form.
- Screen locks and passcodes: a passcode you provide for diagnosis is used only for that job and removed from our records once it closes.
- Trade-ins and buy-backs: we wipe or securely reset every trade-in device before resale or disposal. Please sign out of your accounts (for example iCloud, Google, or Microsoft) and remove any device lock before you trade in, as some locks cannot be cleared by us.
4.3 Linking your shop and online records
If you buy in the shop and also hold an online account, we may link the two records using your phone number or email address so that:
- your warranty and repair history is visible whichever channel you use
- loyalty points and instalment records stay in one place
- we can confirm proof of purchase without you producing a paper receipt
If you would rather your in-store purchases were not linked to your online account, tell our staff at the counter or email ayezaw@techzymm.com.
5. Who we share your information with
We share only what is needed, and only with:
- Payment providers: mobile wallet, bank, and card providers used at checkout and in store, including KBZPay, AYA Pay, CB Pay, Wave Pay, and MPU, Visa, or Mastercard terminals
- Delivery partners: our own delivery staff and third party couriers, including Royal Express, Ninja Van, and Gojo Express, who receive your name, address, and phone number
- Manufacturers, distributors, and authorised service centres: for product registration and warranty claims
- IT and hosting providers: website hosting, email, backup, point of sale, and helpdesk services
- Analytics and advertising platforms: Google, Meta (Facebook and Instagram), and TikTok
- Professional advisers: accountants, auditors, and lawyers, where necessary
- Authorities: where required by Myanmar law, a court order, or a valid regulatory request
Our service providers are required to protect your data and use it only for the purpose we specify.
6. Cookies and tracking
Our website uses:
- Essential cookies: login sessions, shopping cart, and security. These cannot be switched off.
- Functional cookies: language, currency, and display preferences.
- Analytics cookies: to understand how the site is used.
- Marketing cookies: to measure advertising performance and show relevant ads.
You can manage non-essential cookies through the cookie notice on our site or through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies will stop checkout from working.
7. How long we keep your data
| Data | Retention period |
|---|---|
| Order, invoice, and tax records | 7 years, or longer where Myanmar tax law requires |
| Warranty and repair records | Warranty period plus 2 years |
| Walk-in service job sheets | Warranty period plus 2 years |
| Account data | Until you delete your account, then 90 days |
| Support tickets and chat logs | 2 years |
| Marketing consent records | Until you unsubscribe, plus 2 years as proof of consent |
| Website analytics | 14 months |
| CCTV footage | 30 days |
| Guest WiFi connection logs | 90 days |
Once a retention period ends, records are deleted or securely destroyed.
8. How we protect your data
- HTTPS/TLS encryption across the whole website
- Passwords stored hashed, never in plain text
- Role based access, so staff see only the data their job requires
- Card and wallet payments handled by licensed providers, not stored on our systems
- Regular backups, software updates, and access log review
- Physical files and job sheets kept in a locked area of the shop
No system is completely secure. If a breach affects your personal data, we will tell you and notify the relevant authority where the law requires it.
9. Your choices and requests
You may ask us to:
- give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- correct data that is wrong or incomplete
- delete your data, where we have no legal or contractual reason to keep it
- stop using your data for marketing
- transfer your data to another provider, where that is technically possible
Myanmar law does not yet set out a full list of data subject rights, but we offer the above as a matter of policy.
To make a request, email ayezaw@techzymm.com or ask at the shop counter, where staff will log it and pass it to the person responsible for privacy. We reply within 30 days and may ask you to confirm your identity first. If you are not satisfied with our response, contact us again in writing so we can escalate it internally, and you may also raise the matter with the relevant Myanmar authorities.
10. Children
Our shop and website are not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect their personal data. Anyone under 18 should make purchases with the involvement of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Data stored outside Myanmar
Some of our service providers, including hosting, email, analytics, and advertising platforms, store or process data outside Myanmar, mainly in Singapore, the United States, and the European Union. We choose providers that offer comparable protection through their contractual and security commitments.
12. Third party links
Our website and social media pages may link to manufacturer sites, review sites, or partner offers. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please read their policies before giving them your data.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our services or the law change. The date at the top always shows the current version. For significant changes, we will notify account holders by email or post a notice on our website.
